New survey shows rising dependence on quick commerce platforms, increasing order frequency, and shifting consumer behaviour across categories
A new consumer study by Bank of America (BofA) shows that Blinkit has taken a clear lead in India’s quickcommerce landscape, even as Swiggy strengthens its position in food delivery. The survey, conducted among more than 1,000 digital users in early November 2025, highlights growing reliance on instant delivery platforms and significant shifts in shopping patterns across categories.
Blinkit emerged as the preferred quick-commerce app for 31% of respondents, ahead of Swiggy Instamart at 19%, Flipkart Minutes at 14% and Zepto at 12%. The findings reflect deeper integration of quick commerce platforms into daily purchasing habits. The share of users placing at least one order a day rose sharply from 8% in March 2025 to 17% in November, while those ordering two to three times a day increased from 3% to 11%.
The survey indicates that 51% of users compare prices across platforms as competition intensifies. About 28% said their quick commerce purchases have begun replacing orders from large e-commerce platforms such as Amazon and Flipkart. Kirana substitution, however, has fallen to 19% from 38%, suggesting that quick commerce platforms are now competing more directly with e-commerce than neighbourhood stores.
Grocery continues to dominate quick commerce baskets, with 40% using these platforms for full-month needs and 37% for unplanned purchases. Quick commerce is also gaining traction in beauty, cosmetics and kids’ products, eroding the share of vertical specialists. Only 28% now purchase beauty products from Nykaa, while the combined share of Amazon and Flipkart in the category has dropped to 32%.
Delivery speed remains the big driver for 35% of users, followed by the convivence of avoiding offline shopping and better discounts. More than half of surveyed users said they expect to increase their quick commerce purchases further.
In food delivery, Swiggy led preferences with 33%, followed by Zomato at 29%, while 20% use both platforms. Over 54% of respondents said they now order food online more frequently than six months ago. Quick-food delivery services are also gaining momentum, with Swiggy Bolt recording the highest trial rate at 43%, ahead of Zepto Café and Bistro by Blinkit.
Overall sentiment toward instant delivery remains strong, with users signalling continued growth for both quick commerce and food delivery platforms.
