Kenta Kon appointed President and CEO of Toyota Motor Corporation

Toyota Motor Corporation has announced that Kenta Kon, currently an Operating Officer, will take over as President and Chief Executive Officer.

Koji Sato, who currently serves as President and a Member of the Board of Directors, will move into the roles of Vice Chairman and the newly created position of Chief Industry Officer (CIO).

Under the revised leadership structure, Sato will focus on broader industry matters, including Toyota’s role within the wider automotive ecosystem, while Kon will oversee internal company management as President and CEO.

The company said the changes to its executive structure will take effect from April 1, 2026. In addition, Sato, who was appointed Vice Chair of KEIDANREN (Japan Business Federation) in May 2025, is expected to advance policy initiatives centred on monozukuri (manufacturing) and strengthen industry collaboration to boost Japan’s industrial competitiveness.
