The initiative aims to encourage painters to take pride in their profession Nippon Paint (India) Private Limited (Decorative Division), Asia Pacific’s leading paint manufacturer today announced the launch of a first-of-its kind Painting & Decorating Skills Competition for talented painters. The contest invites painters who reside in Chennai. The winner of this unique skill contest will be rewarded with a trip to Singapore. In addition, he/she will get a free skill training at the Nippon Paint Academy in Singapore. The second and third prize winners will bag a cash prize of INR 20,000 and INR 10,000 respectively. The contest is divided between two age groups: 18 - 30 year and 31 – 40 year. First, the initial screening of the painters will be conducted. Next, the shortlisted painters would be evaluated on their actual painting skills. The final 20 contestants will participate in the grand finale which is scheduled on the auspicious day of Tamil New Year (April 14th, 2021). Painters who have been retrained and certified as a part of the RPL program are eligible to participate in the contest. Nippon Paint has helped over 20,000 painters achieve the RPL (Recognition of Prior Learning) certification under the TNSDC (Tamil Nadu Skill Development Corporation) scheme. Interested painters can participate by giving a missed call to 7666600800. Following that, their participation process will begin. The last day of enrolment is 15th March 2021. Speaking about the skill contest, Mahesh Anand, President, Nippon Paint India (Decorative Division) said, “We are excited to launch this painting contest for our painter friends. Wall painting is not something we usually consider when we talk about skill-based professions. However, it takes a lot of expertise and finesse in doing a good painting job. Through this contest, we want to encourage the painters to showcase their skills as a painter and to take pride in their profession. This is an excellent platform for budding and established painters to showcase their creativity and skills. We are hoping to see some wonderful work by the contestants.”
