JioHotstar announces senior-level hires across Product, Engineering and Technology

JioHotstar is accelerating its push to develop next-generation, AI-led products by expanding its senior product and engineering leadership team. As part of this effort, the company has onboarded experienced leaders from some of the world’s leading technology firms to strengthen capabilities across content discovery, user experience, marketing intelligence and core platform engineering.

The new leadership group brings experience from large-scale consumer internet companies including Flipkart, Google, CRED, Razorpay and Myntra. Key hires include Shrinivas SG (Discovery & Personalisation), Naveen Prashanth (Consumer Marketing), Abhishek Sharan (Engineering – Viewer Experience), Abhishek Varshney (AdTech) and Chandru (Product Management), along with Chandramauli Singh and Nishant Paliwal. Collectively, they enhance the platform’s expertise across discovery, engagement, monetisation and engineering infrastructure.

Leading discovery and personalisation, Shrinivas SG brings deep experience in designing and scaling search and discovery systems. At Flipkart, he worked across search, catalog and trends, and played an important role in building GenAI-powered conversational commerce experiences, with a focus on vernacular, voice-first and video-driven discovery.

To drive consumer growth and strengthen engagement, Naveen Prashanth joins from Google, where he led marketing for YouTube Shorts along with Creator and Artist initiatives in India, delivering large-scale brand, performance and monetisation impact. Earlier, he worked at McKinsey & Company, advising FMCG and B2C clients on growth and transformation.

On the engineering front, Abhishek Sharan brings over 15 years of experience in scaling high-traffic consumer platforms. Before JioHotstar, he held senior engineering roles within the Flipkart Group and Myntra, working on systems across search, recommendations, consumer applications, advertising platforms and trust & safety. Most recently, he served as Head of Engineering at SuperMoney. Strengthening advertising and monetisation capabilities, Abhishek Varshney joins from CRED, where he spent nearly five years building products across payments, commerce and financial engineering. Earlier in his career, he worked on application platforms at Razorpay and large-scale infrastructure at Flipkart.

Adding further depth to the leadership bench, Chandramauli Singh and Nishant Paliwal come in from ShareChat and Cleartrip respectively, bringing expertise in recommendation systems, scalable platform architecture and engagement frameworks for mass consumer platforms.

Among earlier leadership hires, David Zakkam had joined to lead analytics and data strategy, supporting data-driven decision-making across the organisation.

The latest appointments were shared internally, highlighting JioHotstar’s continued focus on strengthening its technology and platform foundations.

Separately, JioStar Group recently announced the appointment of Emmy Award-winner Stephen Bugaj as Senior Vice President – GenAI Content & Technology, signalling the network’s emphasis on intelligent content workflows, interactive storytelling and scalable creative systems.

With this expanded leadership lineup, JioHotstar is gearing up for its next growth phase, as streaming platforms increasingly move toward more adaptive, personalised and intelligence-driven user experiences.
