Omnicom Media Group and WPP have won Amazon’s media account, according to global media reports. While OMG will be responsible for overseeing the Americas, WPP will handle the EMEA and APAC regions.
According to the company spokesperson, in the media report, the decision was made after a careful and extensive review. More than six months have passed since Amazon's enormous worldwide media planning and buying account was put up for evaluation, and the winners are now official, said the report. Amazon had shortlisted Omnicom Media Group, WPP's GroupM, and IPG Mediabrands for the proposal. Earlier this year, local briefings were sent to important international markets, such as India. The current agency is IPG Mediabrands, which was awarded the Amazon media account in 2013 and successfully defended it in 2017. Although the new mandate will take effect in 2025, IPG will still provide services to Amazon in 2024.
Publicis Groupe was in charge of Amazon's media account before 2013. Compared to USD 16.9 billion in 2021 and USD 10.9 billion in 2020, Amazon spent more on advertising and promotion in 2022, spending over USD 20.6 billion annually.
