IPL 2024: JioCinema rings in new year with old ad rates

As we enter 2024, JioCinema is all set to take the first move advantage as it has sent out its ad rate card for IPL 2024. As per the card, a copy of which is available withexchange4media.com, the platform has not hiked its prices from 2023.

The platform is seeking ad rates to the tune of Rs 200-250 per 10 seconds for midroll ads. It is asking for Rs 250-300 per 10 seconds for pre-roll ads.  The only change is an increase of Rs 25 in the pre-roll ad rate which started from Rs 225 last year. The spot rate for advertising on CTV also stands same at Rs 6.5 lakh per 10 seconds.

e4m reached out to JioCinema for comments on the story, but did not receive any until filing of this copy.

The company owns the IPL digital rights till 2027. In 2023, the Reliance Industries-supported media company engaged in a fierce competition with Walt Disney-owned Disney Star (who owns the TV rights of IPL), for garnering the bigger chunk of media expenditures by advertisers. The final numbers were believed to be around Rs 1200 to 1500 crores. In 2022, Disney+ Hotstar, which was the official IPL streamer then, earned ad revenue of Rs 1500 crore from IPL.

Jio, however, was able to make a lot of right noise amongst the viewers by announcing free streaming of IPL on mobile. They also gave the choice of streaming the matches in 4K and switch between 12 languages.

Besides, Viacom18 had spent Rs 400 crore on marketing the property.
