Akshay Kumar has been at the receiving end of the internet's wrath for his new ad film for the brand Vimal Elaichi. The actor, who is known for his active lifestyle and health practices, can be seen alongside Shah Rukh Khan and Ajay Devgn who are ambassadors for the "pan masala" brand.
Last year in April, Kumar was flayed by his fans and audience for endorsing the brand, after which he not only tendered an apology but also donated his endorsement fee to a "worthy cause." He also promised to be mindful of his future choices. His move was hailed by many, regarding it as a sign of changing times in the ethics of brand endorsements.
However, netizens are furious at the actor for going back on his promise by associating with the brand again.
Needless to say, the internet has made a note and have heavily come down on actor for breaking his promise to his fans.
Some have also pointed out that the ad may have been shot last year prior to the backlash and was released only this year as per Kumar's contract with the brand.
