ShareChat has introduced parental controls and advanced content rating features on its microdrama app, QuickTV.
Following global standards for vertical episodic content, QuickTV now offers PIN-based parental controls. This allows parents to restrict access to content rated above U/A 13+, which may include violence, gore, or other age-sensitive material.
With these new controls, QuickTV provides structured access based on clearly defined age brackets. Shows are categorized under U (Unrestricted Public Exhibition) and U/A (Parental Guidance Required), further subdivided into U/A 13+, U/A 16+, and A (Adult). This ensures parents can confidently manage what younger users watch, accessing age-appropriate content libraries.
“As micro-dramas increasingly mirror mainstream narratives in theme and intensity, clear classification, age-appropriate access, and platform accountability have become essential. QuickTV, as a pioneer in the segment, is committed to compliance measures that ensure safer content access for relevant audiences. Alongside our existing grievance redressal system, these parental controls and advanced rating systems demonstrate our commitment to responsible accessibility. Given the short, vertical format of content, dynamic disclaimers are also necessary to support a structured and sustainable digital entertainment ecosystem in India,” said Ankush Sachdeva, Co-Founder & CEO, ShareChat.
The initiative aligns with growing efforts to regulate digital entertainment formats that blur the lines between social content and scripted storytelling. Users can also provide suggestions, grievances, or feedback regarding content, including its rating, type, or quality, through ShareChat’s content redressal mechanism.
Currently, QuickTV hosts nearly 350 original series, with each title featuring 50–100 short episodes. Through this launch, ShareChat continues to set benchmarks for responsible innovation in India’s digital ecosystem, balancing creative expression with user safety as the country’s entertainment landscape evolves.
