JioStar releases new RIO with 83 channel bouquets

JioStar, the newly merged venture of Reliance Industries and Disney Star, has unveiled its updated Reference Interconnect Offer (RIO). The broadcaster has introduced 83 channel packs, featuring a total of 134 channels, including 85 standard definition (SD) channels, 44 high definition (HD) channels, and 5 free-to-air (FTA) options.

There are 19 news channels from Network18 in the bouquets announced by JioStar.

As per the RIO, JioStar's Star Value Pack (SVP) Hindi and SVP Hindi Basic packs for standard definition (SD) channels have been priced at Rs 110 each.

The channels offered in the bouquet are across general entertainment, movie, infotainment, kids and sports genres.

It has also created bouquet options for regional languages such as Marathi, Gujarati, Bengali, Odia, Kannada, Telugu, Tamil and Malayalam.

The packs, which are the costliest among all, are the SPP Marathi Lite Hindi HD and SPP Bengali Lite Hindi HD, priced at Rs 240 each.

Sony Pictures Networks India (Culver Max) and Zee Entertainment Enterprises Ltd (ZEEL) have also declared their channel prices, effective from February 1, 2025.
As per the new RIO, SPNI’s Sony Entertainment Television (SET), Sony MAX 2 and five of its sports channels are priced at Rs 19 each.

SPNI is also launching another movie channel Sony MAX 1 in April this year.

SPNI’s Happy India Smart Hindi pack has increased in price from Rs 48 to Rs 54.

Similarly, the Zee All in One Pack Hindi SD, has seen a price hike from Rs 47 to Rs 53, with the addition of the English entertainment channel Zee Café.

According to an industry expert, the DPOs are studying the prices and will share their suggestions soon.

The major player JioStar holds broadcasting rights to prominent cricket events, including the Indian Premier League (IPL) and tournaments organized by the International Cricket Council (ICC) and the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI).
