Eternal’s new CEO Albinder Dhindsa: The driving force behind India’s quick-commerce surge

Albinder Dhindsa is set to assume the role of Group CEO at Eternal, taking over from Deepinder Goyal, with his appointment effective February 1, 2026. Dhindsa is the co-founder and CEO of Blinkit, the quick-commerce company that has redefined India’s grocery delivery landscape. Hailing from Patiala, Punjab, he is recognised as one of India’s leading entrepreneurs, credited with pioneering 10-minute grocery deliveries that have reshaped urban consumer expectations nationwide.

Dhindsa studied engineering at the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Delhi, building a strong foundation in technology and logistics. He then earned an MBA from Columbia Business School, New York, gaining global business insights and strategic expertise that have been instrumental throughout his entrepreneurial journey.

He began his career as a transportation analyst at URS Corporation, followed by a stint as Senior Associate at Cambridge Systematics, where he analysed logistics and transportation systems. During his MBA, he briefly worked at UBS Investment Bank as an associate, gaining exposure to financial markets and corporate strategy.

Returning to India, Dhindsa joined Zomato as Head of International Operations, overseeing global expansion and gaining crucial experience in scaling technology-driven food delivery platforms.

In December 2013, Dhindsa co-founded Grofers with Saurabh Kumar, a colleague from Cambridge Systematics. Initially a hyperlocal delivery service connecting local stores with customers via a mobile app, Grofers grew into a full-stack online grocery platform under Dhindsa’s leadership, attracting investments from SoftBank, Sequoia Capital, and Tiger Global. Facing early operational losses due to a fragmented supply chain, Dhindsa pivoted to a company-owned warehouse model, stabilising operations and driving profitability.
