Deepinder Goyal has resigned as Director, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Eternal, the parent company of Zomato, with his resignation set to take effect at the close of business on February 1, 2026. The company informed shareholders that Albinder Dhindsa, currently a senior executive within the group, will take over as Eternal’s new Group CEO.
Subject to shareholders’ approval, Goyal will transition to the role of Vice Chairman and Director on the Board.
Explaining his decision in a letter to shareholders, Goyal said he has recently been drawn to pursuing new, higher-risk ideas that are better explored outside the framework of a public company. “If these ideas were within Eternal’s strategic scope, I would have pursued them within the company. They are not. Eternal deserves to remain focused and disciplined while exploring growth opportunities aligned with its current businesses,” he wrote.
He added that while he has the bandwidth to continue his responsibilities at Eternal alongside exploring new ideas, the expectations and legal obligations of leading a listed company in India require singular focus. “This transition allows Eternal to stay sharply focused, while giving me the space to explore ideas that do not fit Eternal’s risk profile. My involvement in long-term strategy, culture, leadership development, and ethics and governance will continue, which is where I have increasingly focused anyway,” Goyal noted.
Commenting on Dhindsa’s elevation, Goyal said the centre of gravity for operating decisions would now shift to him. “As Group CEO, Albi will own day-to-day execution, operating priorities, and business decisions. Blinkit’s journey from acquisition to breakeven happened under his leadership—he built the team, culture, supply chain, and operating rhythm. He has the DNA of a battle-hardened founder and his ability to execute far exceeds mine. He is more than capable of leading Eternal as Group CEO,” Goyal wrote. He added that Blinkit will remain Eternal’s largest growth opportunity and Dhindsa’s top priority, with the group’s decentralised structure continuing unchanged.
Albinder Dhindsa is the founder and Chief Executive Officer of Blinkit. Prior to founding the company, he served as Head of International Expansion at Zomato, where he led the company’s global expansion efforts. Dhindsa holds a Bachelor of Technology in Civil Engineering from IIT Delhi and an MBA from Columbia University, New York.
Outside of work, Dhindsa is known to be an avid reader, enjoys playing basketball, listening to French music, and relishing home-cooked meals prepared by his mother.
