Kerala to launch govt-backed OTT platform

Kerala is set to launch a government-backed OTT platform, the first in the country, media networks have reported.

The platform will be managed by CSpace under the Kerala State Film Development Corporation (KSFDC) on behalf of the Department of Cultural Affairs, Kerala.

KSFDC has set up a 60-member panel to select and approve the content that will be showcased on the OTT platform.

KSFDC Chairman Shaji N Karun has been quoted by media reports as saying that so far the curators have picked 42 films for phase 1.

As per reports, the platform will be charge Rs 75 to watch one feature film and shorter contents at a lower price. Half of this amount will go to the content provider, a media report said.

Former MIB Secretary Apurva Chandra had said last year that the National Film Development Corporation of India will launch an OTT platform to showcase films that don't get space in the market.
