India wins ICC Champions Trophy: JioHotstar records 85 crore views

As India scripted history by clinching the ICC Champions Trophy 2025, defeating New Zealand by four wickets in a high-octane final at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium, the number of views on Jio Hotstar surged to a staggering 84.5 crore by the end of the match.

While ‘viewers’ measures the number of unique individuals engaging with the content, regardless of how many times they tuned in, ‘views’ represent the total number of times the content was watched, including multiple views by the same person.

The match was a rollercoaster ride, keeping fans hooked from the first ball. New Zealand, batting first, posted 251/7, with Daryl Mitchell (63 off 101) and Michael Bracewell (53 off 40) leading the charge.

India’s spinners, Varun Chakravarthy and Kuldeep Yadav, played a crucial role in restricting the Kiwis.

As New Zealand’s innings neared its conclusion, the viewership was already soaring, touching 39.7 crore views.

But the real spike came during India’s chase.

Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill provided a solid start, but a few quick wickets, including that of Virat Kohli, kept the game tense.

To put this into perspective, the India-Pakistan match on Feb 23 had seen 60.2 crore views, while the semi-final against Australia reached 66.9 crore.

However, the final shattered all records, showcasing the sheer intensity of cricket’s digital audience.

Earlier, Disney+ Hotstar, the official broadcaster of the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup 2023 and the ICC T20 World Cup 2024, displayed total concurrent viewership figures on its platform.

Since the merger of Jio and Hotstar into one app, the platform has been displaying the number of views only.

The data on the number of unique viewers has not been released yet.
