The Maharashtra government has decided to form a media monitoring centre at a spend of Rs 10 crore to monitor news coverage, media networks have reported.
The state wants to keep a tab on news published about the government across mediums and curb the spread of misleading information.
As per a government resolution: "Government schemes and policies are publicised through various print, electronic, social and digital mediums. The state government was considering to initiate a media monitoring centre where these news items will be monitored and analysed under one roof."
The cell will be treated as an independent project, report said, adding that this will enable a mechanism for real time action against fake or incorrect news articles.
