Tata Trusts Inducts Bhaskar Bhat and Neville Tata as New Trustees of SDTT

Tata Trusts has appointed seasoned Tata Group veteran Bhaskar Bhat and Neville Tata to the board of the Sir Dorabji Tata Trust (SDTT), one of its oldest and most significant philanthropic institutions. The appointments, finalised during a meeting held on Tuesday, will take effect from November 12 for a tenure of three years, according to reports. Neville Tata, son of Tata Trusts Chair Noel Tata, has been an active part of the Tata ecosystem since 2016. A graduate of Bayes Business School, he began his professional journey with Trent and later took the reins of Zudio, the group’s fast-growing affordable fashion brand. He also serves on the boards of the JRD Tata Trust, Tata Social Welfare Trust, and RD Tata Trust, reinforcing his growing leadership role across the group’s philanthropic networks.

Joining him on the SDTT board is Bhaskar Bhat, a respected Tata veteran who led Titan as Managing Director for 17 years, from 2002 to 2019. During his leadership, Titan diversified into jewellery, eyewear, and fashion accessories, transforming into one of India’s most admired lifestyle companies. An alumnus of IIT Madras and IIM Ahmedabad, the 71-year-old Bhat began his career at Godrej & Boyce before joining the Tata Watch Project—an initiative that eventually gave rise to Titan Company. His appointment signals continuity, experience, and a strengthened strategic vision for the Trust’s philanthropic initiatives.
