Accomplished business leader Rajiv S Sawhney has officially announced his new role as Country Manager – India at Campbell Pacific Media. The announcement was shared through a personal update on his professional network, marking an exciting new chapter in his extensive leadership career.
Rajiv S Sawhney brings with him a rich history of executive roles spanning over two decades, steering major global and regional business initiatives across the technology, media, and digital services industries.
Most recently, Sawhney served as CEO/EVP & General Manager – India & South Asia at Thakral Group, a position he held from December 2019 to September 2024. In this role, he was responsible for P&L management, business development, and service delivery, overseeing an impressive INR 700+ crore business for India while driving 45% year-on-year growth through digital transformation and operational excellence.
Prior to his tenure at Thakral, Sawhney played a key role in the growth of Amazon Alexa as Head of Asia, Business Development and Partnerships from May 2017 to July 2019. There, he led a 150% increase in customer acquisition, significantly reduced acquisition costs, and was instrumental in launching Alexa in collaboration with the Government of India’s I&B Ministry.
His earlier career includes impactful leadership at Yahoo!, where as APAC Head, Global Partnerships & Revenue from 2010 to 2017, he managed USD 250 million in content monetization and expanded Yahoo’s footprint to a dominant 97% market share across eight countries.
Sawhney also held the position of SVP and Business Head, India at Reliance Group’s Zapak Games from 2006 to 2010, successfully launching a USD 50 million gaming business, establishing a PAN India retail network across 35 cities, and building a team of 160+ members.
Complementing his impressive career trajectory, Sawhney holds an MBA from the Center for Management Development and a PGDEM in Global Economics from the Indian Institute of Management, Calcutta.
In addition to his executive leadership roles, Rajiv has contributed as a consultant and advisor, including stints with Fresco Global PTE Ltd and Manchester United UK, where he notably helped the football club achieve 500+ million followers from India.
