Prabhat Khabar Elevates Ankit Shukla to Group Editor

Hindi newspaper Prabhat Khabar has promoted senior journalist Ankit Shukla to the role of Group Editor. Prior to this elevation, Shukla was serving as the Managing Editor of the publication.

Speaking to Samacharmedia, Shukla said that his expanded role will involve overseeing both print and digital editorial operations. He will be responsible for steering the group’s multiple editions while also shaping its digital growth and expansion strategy, reflecting Prabhat Khabar’s increasing focus on integrated news delivery.

With over two decades of experience in journalism, Shukla has worked across leading Hindi and English news organisations in several states. An alumnus of Makhanlal Chaturvedi National University of Journalism and Communication, Bhopal, he began his media career with the Hindustan Times, followed by stints at The Times of India and Jagran iNext.

He spent 17 years with the Dainik Bhaskar Group, where he rose through the ranks from Chief Sub-Editor to State Editor for Jharkhand and Bihar. After leaving Dainik Bhaskar, Shukla worked as a senior editor at Amar Ujala, Kanpur, before joining Prabhat Khabar, where he has now moved from Managing Editor to Group Editor.

According to industry sources, Shukla’s appointment to Prabhat Khabar was made with the intent of giving him a larger strategic role within the organisation. The Group Editor position was earlier held by senior journalist Ashutosh Chaturvedi, who recently took charge as an Information Commissioner at the Central Information Commission, paving the way for Shukla’s elevation.
