OpenAI appoints Slack CEO Denise Dresser as its new Chief Revenue Officer

OpenAI has appointed Denise Dresser as its new Chief Revenue Officer (CRO), entrusting her with leading the company’s global revenue strategy across enterprise and customer success. She will step into the role next week, reporting to COO Brad Lightcap.

Dresser joins OpenAI after more than two years as CEO of Slack, where she oversaw the platform’s integration into Salesforce and spearheaded its AI-focused productivity initiatives. Her career prior to Slack includes over a decade at Salesforce—most recently as President of Accelerated Industries—along with earlier leadership roles at Oracle as Regional Manager for Enterprise Performance Management.

Commenting on the appointment, Fidji Simo, CEO of Applications, said,“We’re on a path to put AI tools into the hands of millions of workers across every industry. Denise has led that kind of shift before, and her experience will help us make AI useful, reliable, and accessible for businesses everywhere.”

Dresser added,“I’ve spent my career helping scale category-defining platforms, and I’m excited to bring that experience to OpenAI as it enters its next phase of enterprise transformation.”

At Slack, Chief Product Officer Rob Seaman will serve as interim CEO.
