Singh moves on after almost a 15-month tenure
Karan Abhishek Singh, Chief Executive Officer at Zee Media Corporation Limited, who took up the role in July 2024, is set to move on after almost a 15-month tenure.
Before taking charge at Zee Media, Singh played a defining leadership role at Network18 Media & Investments Limited, where he spent more than five years. As CEO of Hindi News (TV & Digital) from April 2021 to May 2024, he helmed a powerful cluster of seven news channels and the country’s leading Hindi news platform, News18 India. His strategic focus on content innovation, marketing-led brand building, and technology-driven growth was instrumental in driving strong ratings, revenue, and profitability for the network. Earlier, as CEO - Languages, he led eight regional language channels, expanding the network’s footprint across India’s southern, western, and eastern markets.
Singh’s media career also includes a significant stint at Star India, where he held multiple senior roles in ad sales leadership between 2013 and 2018, managing enterprise accounts and agency partnerships. He was responsible for driving the network’s advertising revenues and forging key relationships with some of India’s largest advertisers.
Before entering the media industry, Singh built his leadership credentials in the consumer goods and telecom sectors, working with PepsiCo, Nokia India Private Limited, Godrej Sara Lee Ltd., Hindustan Unilever Limited, and GE Capital. His roles spanned sales, marketing, trade strategy, and product launches, giving him a strong foundation in business operations and P&L management.
