Hindustan Unilever Ltd (HUL) Managing Director and CEO Rohit Jawa received a total remuneration of ?23.23 crore in FY25, reflecting a 3.75% increase over the previous year, as per the company’s latest annual report.
Jawa’s compensation included a base salary of ?3.65 crore, allowances of ?11.45 crore, a performance bonus of ?3.78 crore and long-term incentives worth ?2.76 crore.
Despite the hike, the CEO-to-median-employee pay ratio declined slightly from 153.03 in FY24 to 146.47 in FY25. The report also highlighted a reduction in the company’s permanent workforce — from 7,215 employees in FY24 to 6,604 in FY25, marking an 8.46% decrease.
Meanwhile, the median remuneration of employees rose by 8.39%, and the average salary increase for non-managerial staff (excluding promotions) was 4.62%.
In his message to shareholders, Jawa noted that the company continued to face challenges such as moderate urban demand and a gradual recovery in rural markets. He emphasized that HUL remained focused on driving volume growth and enhancing competitiveness.
Chairman Nitin Paranjpe also pointed to external challenges like volatile commodity prices and erratic weather but expressed optimism about India’s long-term growth, supported by rising affluence and enabling policies.
In FY25, HUL reported a turnover of ?60,680 crore and a net profit of ?10,644 crore. The company also pursued several strategic moves — including acquiring premium skincare brand Minimalist, divesting its water purifier business Pureit, and announcing the demerger of its ice cream division, which includes brands such as Kwality Wall’s, Cornetto, and Magnum.
