Flipkart has announced the appointment of Akash Jain as its new Director of Marketing, Head of Media. Jain brings nearly a decade of experience within Flipkart, having contributed significantly to the company’s media and marketing strategies across various verticals.
In his new role, Jain will oversee digital and ATL (Above The Line) media strategies for Flipkart’s core business as well as its emerging verticals, including the recently launched quick commerce initiative, Flipkart Minutes. His responsibilities will include driving innovative advertising campaigns and optimizing media strategies to strengthen Flipkart’s position in India’s competitive e-commerce landscape.
Jain has been with Flipkart for almost seven years, previously serving as Head of Media – Associate Director. During this time, he played a pivotal role in shaping media strategies for key categories such as mobiles, electronics, appliances, fashion, and beauty. He also worked closely with emerging businesses like health, fintech, and grocery to enhance their media presence on the platform. Before joining Flipkart, Jain gained valuable experience in digital marketing at Odigma (an Infusion company) and founded ContentKulture.in, a platform focused on coupons and giveaways.
Jain’s appointment comes at a time when Flipkart is experiencing robust growth. For the financial year 2023-24 (FY24), Flipkart Internet reported a 21% increase in revenue, reaching ?17,907.3 crore. Additionally, Flipkart's advertising revenue surged to nearly ?5,000 crore during FY24, underscoring its strength as an advertising platform for brands.
The Walmart-owned e-commerce giant has also been expanding its quick commerce vertical through Flipkart Minutes, which promises faster delivery times in select cities
