Netflix has partnered with Indian cricketer Rohit Sharma ahead of the release of Stranger Things Season 5 Vol. 2, bringing together one of the world’s most popular series with one of India’s most recognisable sporting icons.
The collaboration features a short film released by Netflix India, with Sharma shown in a cricket team environment while playfully referencing elements from the Stranger Things universe. Drawing parallels between match-day strategy and the show’s central conflict, the video blends cricketing jargon with familiar characters and antagonists from the series. Netflix has clarified that Sharma is not part of the show’s storyline and that his involvement is limited to this India-led promotional campaign ahead of the final season.
Speaking about the collaboration, Sharma said, “I’ve been binge-watching Stranger Things for years, so this was a fun crossover for me. The idea of mixing cricket strategy with the world of Hawkins was something I instantly connected with.”
In the video, he is also heard saying, “Vecna ki fielding toh set kar di hai,” drawing a light-hearted comparison between setting a cricket field and preparing for the Upside Down.
