Between April and June 2024, the Information & Broadcasting sector, including print media, saw substantial FDI inflows amounting to Rs 3,374.73 crore. Within this sector, Radio Broadcasting attracted Rs 2,839.60 crore, while the Films & Advertisement segment received Rs 535.13 crore.

The inflow this fiscal marked a 31% decline from last year, which saw Rs 4,893 crore in FDI.

A new report said that the largest FDI in the April-May-June quarter came from Walt Disney , which invested Rs 2,839 crore in Star India , which will be merging with Reliance Industries’ Viacom18.

According to the report, other FDIs also include IVY Entertainment Holdings which invested Rs 219 crore in its Indian unit, IVY Entertainment. WEA Internation infused Rs 136 crore into Warner Music India. Havas Participations invested Rs 77 crore in Havas Worldwide India, and Sony Pictures Films India received Rs 12 crore from SPE India Films Holding.

Ver Se Innovation reportedly raised Rs155 crore from Invest Media and Gautam Ramdas. Sports segment invested Ra 287 crore in Irelia Sports India, the owner of the Indian Premier League franchise Gujarat Titans. Delhi Sports and Entertainment got Rs 6.84 crore from its parent company, Wall Street Investments.

The report mentioned that the largest FDI last fiscal was from BTS Investment, which injected Rs 4,306 crore into Viacom18 as part of its Rs 15,145 crore investment.
