Apple and Samsung have sent legal notices to Xiaomi in India, accusing the Chinese brand of running disparaging ads against their flagship smartphones and televisions, according to an ET report.
In March and April, Xiaomi rolled out full-page print ads pitting its 15 Ultra against Apple’s iPhone 16 Pro Max, questioning whether the iPhone was “really the best” while underscoring price and specification differences.
Samsung too came under fire, with Xiaomi using both social media and print campaigns to draw comparisons between its smartphones and TVs and Samsung’s offerings, touting its own products as “future-ready” alternatives.
The pushback comes as Apple and Samsung command nearly 95 percent of India’s premium smartphone market (above Rs 50,000), while Xiaomi accounts for less than 1 percent, IDC data shows. Industry watchers believe the brand’s aggressive marketing pitch may have triggered the legal counteraction from its bigger rivals.
