OpenAI CEO Sam Altman has claimed that Meta is trying to lure away his employees with signing bonuses amounting to $100 million, but so far, no one has accepted the offer.
Speaking on ‘Uncapped’, a podcast hosted by his brother Jack Altman, the tech leader said, “They started making giant offers to a lot of people on our team. You know, like $100 million signing bonuses, more than that in compensation per year.”
Despite the staggering figures, Altman believes that his employees are staying because they feel OpenAI has a stronger shot at building artificial general intelligence (AGI), and that could be even more valuable in the long run.
Altman also claimed that paying big salaries without a clear mission like building AGI probably won’t lead to a strong or healthy work culture.
