HCLTech to acquire Hewlett Packard Enterprise’s telecommunications solutions business

HCLTech has entered into an agreement to acquire Hewlett Packard Enterprise’s (HPE) Telco Solutions business, strengthening its market-leading position in the global telecom industry.

Building on its earlier transaction with HPE in 2024, the acquisition will enable HCLTech to further expand its portfolio with industry-leading intellectual property, deep product engineering and R&D expertise, and long-standing relationships with top global Communication Service Providers (CSPs). Telco Solutions was previously part of HPE’s Communications Technology Group (CTG), from which HCLTech had acquired select assets last year.

The earlier CTG portfolio—covering Business Support Systems (BSS), network applications, service cloudification and data intelligence—has since been successfully integrated and is witnessing strong growth. With this expanded capability, HCLTech aims to accelerate network transformation initiatives, including Network as a Service (NaaS) and AI-driven autonomous networking.

As part of the agreement, nearly 1,500 engineering and telecom specialists across 39 countries will join HCLTech’s global delivery organisation to support business scale-up.

“We are very excited about the opportunity ahead, as HCLTech is uniquely positioned to empower CSPs to transform into true technology companies—accelerating the shift from telcos to techcos,” said Anil Ganjoo, Chief Growth Officer and Global Head of Telecom, Media, Publishing & Entertainment and Technology (TMT) at HCLTech. “The integration of this highly skilled HPE team and their proven IP strengthens our product-aligned model and accelerates our move toward higher-value, IP-led services and non-linear growth.”

“HCLTech has a compelling vision for enabling CSPs, and this transaction will build on the Telco Solutions business’s strong momentum and customer success,” said Rami Rahim, Executive Vice President, President and General Manager, Networking at HPE. “Both HPE and HCLTech will continue to pursue differentiated strategies to support this critical sector through focused innovation and long-term commitment.”

The transaction is subject to regulatory approvals and customary closing conditions and is expected to close within approximately six months.
