Five TV channels secure slots on DD Free Dish

Prasar Bharati has granted carriage to five television channels through its mid-year e-auctions for vacant slots on DD Free Dish.

These slots have been assigned for a two-month duration beginning February 1, 2026, and will be valid until March 31, 2026.

The auctions were organised to monetise idle capacity on the free-to-air DTH platform.

In the MPEG-2 category, two channels — GTC Punjabi and Movieplex — obtained slots. Meanwhile, three news channels — North East Live, FM News and K News India — secured slots under the MPEG-4 category.

These mid-year e-auctions were conducted outside the regular annual auction cycle to allocate vacant slots on a pro-rata basis.
