Das was leading the Media Futures Group (MFG) of the agency and spearheaded Google-focused operations across India and Southeast Asia.
His exit marks the end of a brief but strategic stint at the GroupM agency, where he had joined in June 2024. EssenceMediacom has not named his successor yet.
Both Das and WPP Media declined to comment on the development.
His departure from the agency has come at a time when the parent holding company WPP is undergoing a lot of churn. A month ago, GroupM was transformed and rebranded as WPP Media. Weeks later, Company’s CEO Mark Read announced that he would step down at the end of the year. Only yesterday, WPP Media, formerly GroupM, underwent organisational restructuring.
Before EssenceMediacom, Das served as CEO of Zoo Media and FoxyMoron, where he led the independent digital network through a period of restructuring and growth. He exited Zoo Media in February 2024 after nearly a year in the role and took a short break before joining GroupM.
He is best known for his 13-year tenure at Mindshare, where he rose to become Vice President and Head of Consulting, Data, Analytics, and Technology. During that time, he played a key role in shaping data-driven media planning and consulting practices, working with marquee clients like Airtel, Nokia, PepsiCo, Ford, and HUL.
Das’s two-decade career spans leadership roles at Wunderman, Omnicom Media Group, ISHIR Digital, and Webchutney. He is widely respected in the industry for combining media strategy with analytics and martech, and for championing DEI, team mentoring, and inclusive leadership.
