Venugopal Parthasarathy Iyengar steps down as COO of Digital Planetcast

Venugopal Parthasarathy Iyengar has resigned from his position as Chief Operating Officer – Digital at Planetcast Media Services Ltd., according to sources close to the matter, who confirmed the development to e4m.

Iyengar’s departure follows a period during which he played a pivotal role in driving Planetcast’s digital and cloud-led growth initiatives. He was instrumental in developing and scaling the company’s Cloud and SaaS offerings, bridging Planetcast’s traditional broadcast expertise with the evolving demands of OTT platforms, FAST channels, digital distribution, and next-generation content management solutions.

A seasoned professional in the media and entertainment sector, Iyengar is recognized for his ability to operate at the nexus of content, technology, and business. Over the past two decades, he has gained extensive experience across the entire media value chain, including mobile video, OTT services, DTH, broadcast television, content acquisition, subscriber and product management, broadcast marketing, and franchise development.

His career highlights include leadership roles at global media giants such as Walt Disney and Viacom, as well as prominent Indian networks like Zee Entertainment Enterprises and Sun TV Network. In a notable entrepreneurial chapter, Iyengar also led Apalya Technologies, where he successfully competed with global players to secure marquee clients across Asia, further reinforcing his reputation as a media-tech strategist with strong execution capabilities.
