In a significant leadership transition, Hindustan Times recently named Sameer Singh as its new Group CEO, effective March 1, 2025. Singh will take over the reins from Praveen Someshwar, the company’s Managing Director and CEO, whose tenure concludes on February 28, 2025.
Sameer Singh brings with him a stellar track record of leadership across global and regional roles in the media, advertising, and consumer goods sectors. He's been in the industry for more than 30 decades now. Most recently, he led TikTok's North American ad sales, following an impactful stint as Head of the Asia-Pacific region for the platform. Joining ByteDance in 2019, Singh played a pivotal role in strengthening TikTok’s advertising capabilities across key markets.
Before ByteDance, Singh served as CEO of GroupM South Asia, where he successfully drove growth and innovation for the agency group. His earlier roles include a tenure at Google, where he led agency partnerships in India and spearheaded digital strategies for global clients across markets in the Americas.
Singh's career began at the Mullen Lintas Group as an Account Manager, where he managed accounts for major alcohol brands, including Reckitt. His diverse industry experience spans consumer goods giants like Procter & Gamble (P&G) and GlaxoSmithKline (GSK), where he was instrumental in transitioning media investments toward digital channels. During his 16 years long stint at P&G, Singh rose through various leadership roles, contributing to the growth of the company’s razor and blaze businesses in India and other markets. Interestingly enough he has worked with P&G for 4 years as a Global Trainee and before that a brand manager. (from 1992- 1996)
An alumnus of IIM Calcutta, Singh’s professional journey has taken him to global hubs like New York, New Delhi, Palo Alto, Boston, London, Dubai, and Guangzhou, equipping him with a truly international perspective.
