Board approves five-year term as seasoned FMCG leader steps into top role

Rakshit Hargave Takes Over as CEO and MD of Britannia Industries

Rakshit Hargave has assumed charge as the Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director of Britannia Industries, marking a new chapter for the FMCG major. His appointment has been cleared by the company’s board for a five-year tenure, subject to shareholder approval.Commenting on his elevation, Hargave said he felt “privileged to lead such an iconic organisation”, describing his first day in the role as “amazing” after meeting teams across the company. He added that he is keen to work collaboratively to build Britannia into a total foods global company.

Hargave brings over two decades of leadership experience across consumer goods, retail and manufacturing, with exposure spanning India and international markets. Before joining Britannia, he served as CEO of Birla Opus, the paints business of the Aditya Birla Group, where he was instrumental in building the venture from the ground up, setting up manufacturing capabilities and scaling distribution nationwide.

Earlier, he held senior roles at Beiersdorf AG, where he led operations across the ASEAN and ANZ regions, and also served as Managing Director of NIVEA India. His career also includes leadership stints at Hindustan Unilever as Sales and Marketing Director, along with roles at Kimberly-Clark Lever, Lakmé Lever, Jubilant Foodworks, and Nestlé India.Hargave began his professional journey at Tata Motors, gaining early experience in operations and manufacturing an exposure that went on to shape his leadership approach across FMCG and consumer-focused businesses.
