After recently resigning from the post of News Director of TV Today Network (TVTN) and Executive Director of Business Today, renowned journalist Rahul Kanwal has now joined the team of NDTV. On May 26, he officially took over as Editor-in-Chief and CEO. His Tenure at India Today Group ended on May 23.

On April 05, e4m’s sister concern Samachar4media was the first to give this news quoting sources that Rahul Kanwal can join NDTV. This news of ours has also been officially confirmed on April 26. In the meeting of the Board of Directors of NDTV held on 25 April 2025, it was decided that Rahul Kanwal would be appointed as the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and Editor-in-Chief of NDTV.

Rahul Kanwal is a well-known name in the world of journalism, who has more than 25 years of experience in this field. Till now he was working as News Director in 'India Today' and 'Aaj Tak' and has also been the Executive Director of 'Business Today'. Apart from this, he has played senior editorial roles in organizations like 'Headlines Today' and 'Zee News'. May 23 was his last working day in 'TV Today Network'.

During his tenure, Rahul Kanwal took the news gathering and operations of the India Today Group to new heights. He was the face of India Today's flagship primetime show 'Newstrack' and his weekend interview show 'Jab We Met' was also extremely popular.

Born on 14 September 1980 in Deolali, Maharashtra, Rahul Kanwal studied journalism from Delhi University.

Rahul is an alumnus of the General Management Program (GMP) of Harvard Business School. After studying journalism from Delhi University, he has also done a course in International Broadcast Journalism from Cardiff University. He has also received many honors like Chevening Scholarship and Roy Peck Trust Grant for Hostile Environment Journalism. Apart from this, he also received the Rory Peck Trust Grant, under which he took training in Hostile Environment Journalism.

Rahul Kanwal made an important contribution to journalism in the form of establishing Anti-Fake News War Room (AFWA), which was created to stop fake news and disinformation. Apart from this, he also laid the foundation of Open Source Intelligence Desk (OSINT), which works to strengthen data-based journalism. Rahul Kanwal has received many awards and honors including 'Exchange4Media News Broadcasting Awards' (enba) for his outstanding contribution to journalism.
