Former IAS officer of UP Cadre, Navneet Kumar Sehgal (Retd IAS: 1988: UP) has been appointed as the Chairman of the Prasar Bharati Board. He belongs to Chandigarh and holds a B.Com. degree along with a C.A.C.S. Certificate of Proficiency in French. 

According to the official order, Sehgal will serve the post for three years or until he attains the age of 70, whichever is earlier.

Sehgal has played a crucial role in the governments of Mayawati, Akhilesh Yadav and Yogi Adityanath as a Secretary to the Chief Minister (CM) and Additional Resident Commissioner from 2007-2012.

During his time with CM Yogi's government, he earned the reputation of being the troubleshooter and confidante of the CM. He handled the Information Department as Additional Chief Secretary before he was transferred to the sports department. Recently, he was the Additional Chief Secretary of Sports Department for the Government of U.P. and Youth Welfare Department since August 31, 2022. 

Sehgal started as a Joint Magistrate of Dehradun August 1991 which lasted till July 1992. Later, he also served as the Principal Secretary to Government of UP for the Khadi & Village Industries. Department during June 2017 to June 2020. He was then the Additional Chief Secretary in the same department June 2020 onwards for almost two years.
