Is Bodhisatva Ganguli likely to retire from ET in Jan end?

Bodhisatva Ganguli, who had taken up an advisory role at The Economic Times is likely to achieve superannuation and retire from the organisation on 31st Jan as he turns 58 on January 25, 2023. The organisation was keen to extend his consulting role, however it has been learnt that Bodhisatva Ganguli is not keen. According to industry hearsay and buzz within the organisation, speculations are rife that he may be taking up consulting assignments. Two names have been doing rounds: CNBC and NDTV Profit, but both names are not confirmed. It could just be the buzz as Bodhisattva is a very senior editorial leader
When e4m reached out to Ganguli, he chose not to respond. The CEO and Executive Director of BCCL, Sivakumar Sundaram also was not responsive at the time of filing this copy.
Ganguli has been working with the paper since February 1999 and this exit will mean an end to almost 25 years of a glorious run at The Economic Times. He has been instrumental in building the credibility, authenticity and trust within the publication.
Before his advisory role at The Economic Times, he was The Executive Editor of ET for about a decade.
He was Head of the Corporate Bureau in Mumbai in the early 2000s and then became the Edit-Page Editor. According to media reports, in 2008 he returned to the news when he was appointed Resident Editor (head) of the Mumbai edition.
Before joining ET, Ganguli worked in Business India magazine from July 1991 to February 1999.
Ganguli is an Economics graduate from Presidency College, Kolkata and a postgraduate from Delhi School of Economics.
Earlier in September 2023, e4m reported that Bodhisatva Ganguli would step back from the operational and administrative responsibilities at the organisation to assume a more strategic role as a Mentor and Guide to ET’s leadership team. Sruthijith K K had taken up Ganguli’s role as Executive Editor of ET.
While Shishir Prasad is the Editor at ET Prime, Javed Sayed, Associate Executive Editor of The Economic Times, moved out in July last year.
