In a significant leadership transition, Anil Uniyal has stepped down as COO of NDTV, as per sources, marking the end of a two-plus-year journey with NDTV Group, and overall, a nine-year journey that began with Quint and Quint Bloomberg venture’s inception in 2016.
In the last two-plus years, Uniyal worked closely with Sanjay Pugalia and steadied the ship on the business side and also played an instrumental role in launch of NDTV Profit and contributed tremendously at the group level in a very significant manner.
Under Uniyal’s leadership, BloombergQuint, which was a joint venture between Bloomberg Media and Quintillion Media, grew into a prominent destination for business and financial news in India. The platform combined global market insight with a strong digital-native approach. Later, the platform, post the acquisition by Adani Media Group and NDTV, was merged into NDTV Profit.
Uniyal brought to the role extensive experience from his tenure at Network18, where he served as CEO of CNBCTV18, CNBC Awaaz, CNBC Bajar, and Forbes India between 2011 and 2016.
Prior to that, he was Chief Operating Officer at Network18 and head of TV18’s media operations, where he played a crucial role in building the group’s business news portfolio.
Uniyal did not respond to e4m till the time of filing of this story. A formal statement on his next move is awaited. e4m also reached out to Rahul Kanwal, Group CEO and Editor-in-Chief of NDTV, but did not get a response till the time of filing the story.
