The media account shifts that made news in 2023

The year 2023 has been an eventful time for media agencies. While some suffered the loss of major clients, others succeeded in landing key accounts. As the end nears its end, exchange4media brings to you a recap of the biggest account movements of the year.

Reckitt

dentsu X had been in charge of the account since 2019. The FMCG multinational's portfolio includes flagship brands such as Dettol, Mortein, Strepsils and Harpic among others, and it operates in more than 60 countries.

Maruti Suzuki

Maruti Suzuki was another major account movement that made headlines this year. Mindshare India was appointed as the auto major’s new media agency in March.

The account was previously handled by dentsu India. The account was estimated to be worth roughly Rs 1200 crore. The mandate covers traditional, outdoor and digital media.

Berger Paints

In July, Berger Paints awarded its media mandate to dentsu X. The account was won following a multi-agency pitch and is being serviced from the agency’s Kolkata office.

As earlier reported by e4m, Berger Paints currently has media spends of around Rs 200 crore.

Joyalukkas

In July this year, Havas Media Network India won the media AOR of Joyalukkas. Havas Media Network India is handling the jewellery brand’s offline channels, encompassing TV, Print, Radio, Cinema, and OOH for the brand.

The account is beingled by Saurabh Jain, President - South, Havas Media India, from the agency's Bengaluru office. The win came on the heels of a multi-agency pitch.

Hamdard Laboratories

In September, mSix&Partners won integrated media and social duties for Hamdard Laboratories. The agency won the account following a competitive multi-agency pitch and now handles all aspects of media, including TV, print, radio, digital, out-of-home and cinema.

The mandate covers the medicine portfolio which includes brands like Safi, Cinkara, Roghan Badam, Shirin, Joshina, and more.

More Retail

Starcom India, part of Publicis Groupe India, was awarded the full range of media duties of More Retail, a food and grocery retail chain in the country in April.

The brand was previously working with a set of different agency partners on traditional media, digital and performance marketing and activation but has now consolidated its entire media remit with Starcom.
