As per Ormax Media’s report for October 2024, at Rs 263 crore, Amaran emerged as the top-grossing film of the month, other big releases included Vettaiyan at Rs 173 cr & Lucky Bashkar at Rs 87 cr

Tamil releases bagged nearly 50% of October’s domestic box office collection

Ormax Media’s The India Box Office Report: October 2024 has revealed that almost 50% of the month’s collection came from Tamil movies, including the dubbed versions in other Indian languages. The total domestic box office collection stood at Rs 994 Crore.

Earning Rs 263 Crore, Amaran emerged as the top-grossing film of the month. Other top-grossing films included Vettaiyan (Rs 173 Crore), Lucky Bashkar (Rs 87 Crore), Venom: The Last Dance (Rs 73 Crore), Vicky Vidya Ka Woh Wala Video (Rs 51 Crore), Jigra (Rs 39 Crore), KA (Rs 37 Crore), Bagheera (Rs 28 Crore), Martin (Rs 25 Crore), and Pani (Rs 23 Crore).

Compared to 2023, the cumulative box office collections are 7% lower for Jan-October. So far in 2024, Kalki 2898 AD remains the highest grossing movie at Rs 776 crore, followed by Stree (Rs 698 Crore), Devara Part - 1 (Rs 347 Crore), The Greatest Of All Time (Rs 304 Crore), Amaran (Rs 269 Crore), Fighter (Rs 243 Crore), Hanu-Man (Rs 240 Crore), Shaitaan (Rs 178 Crore), Vettaiyan (Rs 173 Crore) and Manjummel Boys (Rs 170 Crore).

Hindi movies have led the domestic box office collection this year so far with a 34% share, followed by Telugu (21%), Tamil (18%) and Malayalam (11%). With Pushpa 2: The Rule slated to release in December 2024, the share of Telugu movies in box office collections is bound to go up significantly.
