Q4 2025: Dabur India cuts ad spends by 4% YoY amid profit dip

FMCG major Dabur India Limited reported a 38% sequential decline in its consolidated net profit for the quarter ended March 31, 2025, at Rs 312.73 crore, compared to Rs 515.82 crore in the December quarter. On a year-on-year basis, net profit also fell by 8.3% from Rs 341.22 crore in Q4 FY24.
Dabur also pared down its advertisement and publicity expenses in Q4 FY25, which fell 22.2% quarter-on-quarter to Rs 176.40 crore from Rs 226.72 crore. Compared to the same quarter last year, this represented a 3.9% decline.
The total income for the March quarter stood at Rs 2,971.29 crore, down 14.7% from Rs 3,483.28 crore in the preceding quarter, though marginally higher than Rs 2,943.49 crore reported in the corresponding period last year.
For the full fiscal year ended March 31, 2025, Dabur posted a consolidated net profit of Rs 1,740.42 crore, down 3.9% from Rs 1,811.31 crore in FY24. Total income for FY25 rose slightly to Rs 13,113.19 crore from Rs 12,886.42 crore in the previous year.
Ad spends totalled Rs 849.06 crore, slightly lower than Rs 864.64 crore in FY24, marking a 1.8% annual decline.
The company said in a press release, while the demand environment remained challenging with high food inflation and a surge in cost of living continuing to limit urban spending, Dabur drove consumer engagement and brand superiority across product categories to end the fourth quarter of 2024-25 with market share gains across 90% of the portfolio.
Despite facing some pressures in the India business, Dabur's international business enabled them to successfully navigate the complex external environment, as per the company. Their International Business achieved 19% Constant Currency growth in the fourth quarter and 17% during the full year.
"We expect consumer demand in India to recover progressively in the coming quarters, both in urban and rural markets. Our business fundamentals remain strong with household penetration gains across Oral Care, Hair Care, Healthcare, Air Fresheners and Food & Beverages businesses. We are focusing on strengthening our competitive edge in the marketplace by investing in scaling up our rural footprint and rolling out consumer-centric innovations," Dabur India Limited Chief Executive Officer, Mohit Malhotra said.
