Flipkart has put its media account up for pitch, multiple sources have confirmed to exchange4media. The account size is approximately upwards of Rs 500 crore.

The e-commerce giant’s media business, among the largest in the country, is currently managed by Essence Mediacom.

With this move, Flipkart is expected to ignite fierce competition among India’s top media agencies eager to grab one of the market’s biggest advertising mandates.

The Walmart-owned company has built a reputation for pushing creative boundaries with its marketing, delivering high-impact, award-winning campaigns.

EssenceMediacom’s latest breakout campaign for Flipkart Minutes flipped print advertising on its head by using hydrochromic ink in front?page newspaper wraps, a first?of?its?kind tactile innovation.

When readers swiped a wet wipe over the ad, hidden messages emerged, dramatizing Flipkart’s promise of “Delivered in minutes” literally bringing quick?commerce to life in readers’ hands. The execution not only engaged and surprised audiences but also translated Flipkart’s speed into a playful, memorable physical moment.

This inventive approach earned a Gold Abby Award at Goafest 2025.

As per their latest available financials, Flipkart Internet, the marketplace division of Flipkart, clocked revenue to the tune of Rs 17,907.30 crore in FY 2023–24, showing a year-on-year growth of nearly 21%. During the same period, the company’s net loss narrowed by 41% to Rs 2,358 crore.

For the second consecutive year, Flipkart Internet posted revenue growth exceeding 20%, coupled with a substantial decline in its losses.

Owned by Walmart, Flipkart runs its India operations through several entities, with Flipkart Internet handling the marketplace. This unit primarily earns through seller commissions, advertising revenue, and various seller-related service fees.

In FY24, the company generated close to Rs 5,000 crore from advertising alone up from Rs 3,324.7 crore the year before.
