A nostalgic city landmark shifts from a global fast-food giant to a homegrown fashion brand, marking a symbolic moment in Bengaluru’s cultural and entrepreneurial evolution.
For years, Bengaluru’s KFC Signal in Indiranagar has been more than a traffic junction it has been a piece of the city’s cultural vocabulary. So when posts last month hinted that the landmark was being replaced, nostalgia swept across social media. What seemed like a simple name change quickly turned into a conversation about brand recall, city identity, and the way commercial spots become emotional markers.Earlier, it was widely expected that the signal would be renamed after Pizza Hut, another Yum! Brands outlet. But in a surprise twist, SNITCH Founder Siddharth Dungarwal announced on LinkedIn that the junction will now officially become the “SNITCH Signal.” The homegrown fashion label is all set to open a flagship store at the same spot. Dungarwal’s post struck a personal chord:"Never thought the signal I used to cross as a student... would one day carry our name. Bangalore, you make dreams feel real. Hello, SNITCH Signal … Coming soon."
In a conversation with exchange4media, he added, “Life comes full circle in ways you never expect. The signal I waited for years ago is now where our next era begins.”The KFC Signal has long lived in the city’s shared memory a reference point in directions, a meet-up spot, a slice of pop culture. Landmarks like these hold intense media value, acting as hyper-local branding tools that embed themselves into how people navigate and talk about their city.Naturally, its transition triggered a wave of online nostalgia. Bengaluru residents revisited stories of college shortcuts, first jobs, early commutes, and late-night plans made “near the KFC Signal.”
But this shift also represents something bigger: the passing of a cultural torch. A global brand–led landmark is making way for a Made-in-India success story, mirroring Bengaluru’s rising confidence in its own creators and homegrown businesses. The renaming feels like a quiet celebration of the city’s entrepreneurial spirit, where local brands aren’t just competing they’re reshaping the urban landscape. The official unveiling of the SNITCH Signal is expected soon. Until then, Bengaluru stands at the crossroads of nostalgia and new beginnings, watching a familiar landmark step into a fresh identity powered by a proudly local narrative.
