Animal: Big brands on the prowl in Ranbir Kapoor starrer

Ranbir Kapoor starrer Animal, which has been the talk of the town around the weekend, is roaring at the box office, clocking approximately Rs 200 crore in three day’s net collection. The film by Sandeep Reddy Vanga also features Anil Kapoor, Rashmika Mandana, and Bobby Deol in lead roles.

Animal has been dominating conversations for its over-the-top action scenes, romanticized portrayal of alpha males, and father-son relationships. It also features some subtle and not-so-subtle brand integrations.

With the film centred on the story of a rich Indian family, the brands featured were also high-end names associated with class and priviledge. Here's a list of big brands we could spot in the film.

RayBan

In the first ever frame, we see a young Ranbir Kapoor sporting the eyewear brand.

Apple

Lead characters are seen with iPhones, Apple watches, and laptops throughout the film.

Mitsubishi Pajero

There is an elaborate car chase scene where the vehicle has been spotlighted to highlight all its qualities.

Range Rover Vogue

The vehicle got a significant screentime in the film. There's a five-second frame of six Range Rovers in the sun with Ranbir Kapoor and his henchmen stepping out of them in style.

Bridgestone

The tyre manufacuter was also featured in some scenes.

Adidas

The atheleisure brand made a significant impact with just a cap.

BMW 7 Series

The car brand is seen multiple times in the film. One scene shows how the windows are impenetrable by gunshots, showcasing its bullet-proof glass.

Swiggy

The food-delivery brand was mentioned in a scene by the lead character.

Rolex

Almost all scenes with Ranbir Kapoor shows him wearing a gold-plated Rolex.

Benz G Wagon

The vehicle was shown multiple times, even in a sequence where it chased an aeroplane.

Rolls Royce

There can't be luxury without Rolls Royce. The film featured a customised version of the car in its pre-climax scene.

Skoda Slavia

The car was shown in a post climax scene featuring the family.

Like any other film in recent times, Animal has not officially announced any of the brand associations; however, the integrations seemed deliberate to this writer.

A reason why brand integrations are better noticed by the audience, according to Nisha Sampath, Brand Consultant, and Founder, of Bright Angles Consulting, is sheer curiosity.

At the movies,"...the boundaries between reality and fantasy are blurring and people like to see what their favourite characters are donning,” Sampath points out. Viewers tend to dimensionalize the lives and contexts of characters, she states, “It comes more natural that we will pay attention to the brands that they use, the restaurants they visit, the flights they take and much more.”
