Moments after being named e4m Influencer of the Year 2025, Kartik Sharma, Group CEO of Omnicom Media Services, sat down for a candid, free-flowing conversation with Dr. Annurag Batra, Chairman and Editor-in-Chief of BW Businessworld and Founder of exchange Media. The exchange offered rare insight into Sharma’s leadership philosophy, the agency group’s roadmap for 2026, and the personal values that continue to shape his journey.
Reflecting on the future of Omnicom Media Services, Sharma made it clear that growth remains the core objective but with clear guardrails. “Growth for our clients is non-negotiable. If our clients grow, we grow,” he said, adding that equal emphasis would be placed on people growth through continuous learning and capability building. However, he stressed that scale without values holds little meaning. According to Sharma, consistent growth anchored in the right culture and values is what ensures long-term success. With 2025 marking a strong year of marquee account wins, Sharma hinted at what the market can expect next. He revealed that Omnicom’s proprietary marketing platform, Omni, is set for a major upgrade. “You’ll see a new Omni, four times more powerful, coming very soon,” he said, signalling a renewed focus on technology-led transformation.
Beyond business, Sharma shared his personal aspirations for 2026. Health, he said, tops the list staying fit, independent, and energised. He also spoke about the importance of learning without hierarchy, emphasising curiosity, experimentation, and openness to new ideas. Rounding off his goals, he smiled as he admitted he hopes to finally pick up a hobby unrelated to work. When asked about industry leaders who’ve influenced him, Sharma acknowledged Ajit Varghese as a mentor and long-time guide, and PK as a trusted peer and friend. He highlighted temperament, balance, and a strong orientation towards knowledge as qualities he deeply admires.
Earlier in the evening, while accepting the award, Sharma struck a humble note. He admitted he hadn’t realised the impact of his work on so many people and credited colleagues, clients, and partners for the recognition. “There is no client, there is no business. It’s very simple,” he said, underscoring the philosophy that continues to define his leadership.
