Reliance Consumer Products Acquires Majority Stake in Udhaiyams Agro Foods

Reliance Consumer Products Limited (RCPL), the FMCG arm of Reliance Industries Limited, has acquired a majority stake in Udhaiyams Agro Foods Private Limited, marking a significant expansion of its branded staples business.

Under the joint venture agreement, RCPL will hold the majority stake in the company, while Udhaiyams’ existing promoters will retain a minority share. The acquisition brings Udhaiyam—one of Tamil Nadu’s most trusted heritage nutrition brands—under the RCPL umbrella, strengthening Reliance’s presence in the staples and packaged foods segment.

Commenting on the development, T. Krishnakumar, Director, Reliance Consumer Products Limited, said that Udhaiyam is a household name known for healthy food choices and superior quality. He added that the partnership reinforces RCPL’s commitment to delivering global-quality products at affordable prices while celebrating India’s rich food heritage. Krishnakumar expressed confidence that Udhaiyam would scale into a national brand and win consumer trust beyond Tamil Nadu.

He noted that Udhaiyam has long been synonymous with quality pulses in Tamil Nadu and that RCPL’s leadership will help extend the brand’s reach across India, promoting healthier lifestyles while preserving its regional legacy.

Following the transaction, Udhaiyams’ promoters S. Sudhakar and S. Dinakar will continue to hold a minority stake in the company. With over three decades of experience in the staples and packaged pulses category, they will remain involved in the business to support its next phase of growth.
