Nissan Motor India appoints Gagan Mangal as Head of communications

Nissan Motor India Pvt. Ltd. (NMIL) has named Gagan Mangal as its Head of Communications, with effect from 12 January 2026. Based out of Gurugram, Mangal will oversee communications for NMIPL, reporting to Katherine Zachary, Vice President – International Communications, and will work closely with Saurabh Vatsa, Managing Director, NMIPL.

Commenting on the appointment, Saurabh Vatsa, Managing Director, Nissan Motor India, said the company is delighted to welcome Mangal at a crucial phase of its growth journey. He noted that Mangal brings strong expertise in automotive communications along with a deep understanding of the Indian media ecosystem. As Nissan accelerates its brand revival and gears up for upcoming product launches, Vatsa added that Mangal’s leadership will play a vital role in strengthening the company’s communications strategy and shaping a compelling brand story in India.

Mangal joins Nissan from Volkswagen India, where he was leading Press and Marketing Communications. A management graduate, he has over 18 years of rich experience in corporate communications and marketing, having worked with leading automotive OEMs such as Volkswagen and Hyundai.

During his career, Mangal has been instrumental in executing integrated communications strategies across product launches, large-scale events, brand strategy, and campaigns. In his previous roles, he was responsible for developing communications strategies, building strong media narratives, and managing relationships with both national and regional media.
