HAS SALMAN KHAN’S NAME BECAME SYNONYMOUS WITH EID?

The holy month of Ramadan is going to end soon, Muslims around the globe will celebrate Eid-ul-fitr . Not just communities from Muslim faith but communities from other religions also celebrate the day of Eid by greeting each other. The festival is also favoured by brands, companies and movies to promote themselves. One such brand from Bollywood who has now became a mascot for Eid celebrations is Salman Khan. The actor makes sure that his movies are released during the Eid. Now that leads to a question, why do brands and celebritiesuse festivals to market themselves? Also, is India a festival affected market? VOILA! EID’S TREAT FOR BHAIJAAN! Going back to 2012, when Ektha Tiger, was released, it was indeed a scrumptious Eid for the actor as his movie made almost 200 crores. Ka Ching! 2014, it was yet another powerful, impactful Eid for him, as Kick’s box office collection was 232 crore. The marketing strategy was yet another plus point for this film - Kick promos declared: 'WohApniEidiLeneZaroor Aa Gaya.' FESTIVITIES + MARKETING = MONEY MONEY Movies like BajrangiBhaijaan and Sultan were made on sensitive topics and were entirely different. And no wonder, the movies did so well on the box office, which made Salman Khan the highest box office opener on the first day. While BajrangiBhaijaan made 325cr, Sultan made between 300-500crapproximately. SALMAN KHAN AND HIS EID SPECIAL THIS YEAR- This year the actor is coming up with a multi- starrer movie, Race 3, and there is a lot of anticipation about the first day box office collections. Salman’s fans have been very loyal over the years, the next few days will tell us if they plan to make this Eid special for him. MARKETING STRATEGIES DONE WISELY- It was recently reported that Salman has decided to cut down the marketing budget of ‘Race 3’ by 40 percent! The actor decided to not waste huge amounts of money on film promotion. Instead the actors of the movie will be visiting NGO’s in an effort to donate and give back to society. But now we have to wait and watch, to see ifthis cost cutting is going to affect the release, or not!
