Shoes on Loose, an experiential travel company announces yet another promising extension to its Save Ladakh Campaign. In the last season (2019), Shoes On Loose provided LifeStraw bottles to the travelers traveling to Ladakh in an effort to curb plastic waste. Along with it, the refill their LifeStraw bottles through water dispensers available at the premises instead of using single-use plastic bottles. The brand commenced its #SaveLadakh campaign in Jan 2019 when they made their mission for a cleaner and sustainable Ladakh by educating travelers about plastic wastage and water scarcity problems and providing solutions for traveling responsibly. In Aug 2019, Shoes on Loose had organized a clean-up drive and awareness event at old Leh Town in collaboration with Ladakh Ecological Development Group and Ultimate Frontier Outlands promoting the idea of Recycle, Reuse and Reduce plastic bottles. Also, the brand showcase the local economy by showing handicrafts the traditional culture and letting people try more of local cuisines instead of having any other packet food.
Commenting on the same, Mr. Kritagya Tripathi, COO & Co-Founder, Shoes on Loose stated “Ladakh is one of the major tourist hubs in India where more than 3,00,000 tourists visited Leh last year alone which is around ten times the number of residents in the town. The rapidly increasing tourist footfalls contribute to the increasing plastic waste and scarcity of water which is ruining Ladakh’s pristine landscape.
“As a responsible travel company, we aim to create awareness on rising concern in Ladakh among the tourists. Along with creating awareness, we are also taking measures to tackle plastic waste by providing reusable LifeStraw bottles to the travelers who book their Ladakh trip through us. We are sure that with these initiatives we will be able to educate the tourists and at the same time restore the beauty of Ladakh”
Shoes on Loose and its team has a mission and vision to not only provide Hassle-Free Travel to its clients but also to provide inclusive solutions towards a waste crisis for a particular destination. Shoes On Loose has also made a documentary on SaveLadakh to address the issues faced by the destination and how satisfied the travelers are with the solution.
