More than 200 brands are competing for figuring amongst Pitch Brands 50 â€“ Awards for Excellence in Marketing, which will be held on May 30 at Leela Kempinski in Gurgaon. To be more commendable and focused in line with the categories, the brand entries have gone through an exhaustive short listing process and will finally be vetted by Pitchâ€™s esteemed jury panel chaired by Ramesh Jude Thomas, President, EQUiTOR Consulting on May 10.

According to jury chairperson for Pitch Brands 50 Awards, Ramesh Jude Thomas, President, EQUiTOR consulting, â€œBrands have to revitalize themselves in a new environment by restoring their original values like the 65 year international music legend, Carlos Augusto AlvesÂ Santana who became famous in the 60s and 70s with his band â€˜Santanaâ€™ which pioneered the fusion of rock and Latin American music.â€
Talking about the positioning factor of the brands, Ramanujam Sridhar, CEO, Brand Comm says, â€œBrands continuously question their positioning when they hit a rough patch which propels them to constantly update their brands with regards to the market position and analysis. This is when they re-look at their strategies and take a step forward.â€
Breaking the bulk and creating affordability is what brands should look forward to, says Sharad Sarin, Senior Marketing Professor, XLRI. According to Sarin, â€œIf you break the bulk, you create affordability, which was when 50 paise to Re 1 sachets were introduced in market which brought quality of life to people who could not afford it otherwise.â€
