In a top management reshuffling of portfolios, Perfetti Van Melle appointed Ramesh Jayaraman as the Managing Director of India replacing Sameer Suneja, who will now assume a larger role as the Executive Vice President, Innovation and Business Development, based out of Netherlands under the Global CEO of the company.
Jayaraman earlier was the Managing Director of PVM businesses in Sri Lanka and Bangladesh. As his track record goes, Jayaraman has been globetrotting around China, France, Egypt, Banladesh and Sri Lanka as his assignments. He has been with Cadbury, Britannia, Ogilvy and Mather, was the Project Director for Danone and DMD of Yakult Danone before 2006.
On his part, Suneja has worked with PVM for around 15 years holding different portfolios. He headed the Indian business for the last four years and during his incumbency he has said to have pumped up the company’s growth by foraying into the snacks category in India, thus becoming the first subsidiary in the group to diversify into non-confectionery segment. PVM has a diverse portfolio of brands, candies, gums & chewies, which are available throughout the country. He was awarded as one of “India’s Hottest Young Marketers†in 2005 by Brand Equity and one of “India’s Hottest Young Executives†in 2008 by Business Today.
In his new role Suneja will be responsible for developing projects in different international markets with product ideas and exchanging cross-Group successful experiences in the marketing and commercial fields.
The company, with close to a 25 per cent market share, is one of the leading players in the organised confectionery business. It is known for its advertising campaigns for brands like Happydent, Alpenliebe and Mentos in the confectionery category and most recently for Stop Not Golz, the company’s first savoury snack brand.
