In a major reshuffling of its top management positions, PepsiCo India has announced the appointments of Praveen Someshwar and Gautham Mukkavilli as the new CEOs for its Foods and Beverages businesses in India, respectively.
The new appointees will be based out of PepsiCo Indiaâ€™s Gurgaon headquarters and report directly to Manu Anand, Chairman of PepsiCo India Region.
Someshwar, who till now headed the companyâ€™s Beverages portfolio in the country, is going to take lead of PepsiCoâ€™s Foods business. In his new role he will be spearheading PepsiCo Indiaâ€™s food brands like Kurkure, Lay’s, Uncle Chipps and Quaker along with its traditional snacks business under the Lehar brand. He will also lead the India Power of One Council to drive collaboration across the food and beverage businesses.
According to the Chairman, Someshwarâ€™s move to India Foods, which is the brandâ€™s largest foods business in its Asia, Middle East and Africa (AMEA) sector, will enable him to gain experience in a large operating Foods business as he continues in his career journey with PepsiCo. He has been credited for creating game changing marketing campaigns for the beverages business earlier.
On the other hand, Mukkavilli, currently based in Dubai as Senior Vice President, Global Nutrition Group, PepsiCo AMEA, will return to India as CEO for its Beverages business. Looking at his expertise in both global and Indian markets, PepsiCo has given him the onus of leading the growth of its array of beverage brands including Pepsi, 7UP, Mirinda, Slice, Aquafina and Gatorade, among others.
“Gautham is well suited for his new role given that his rich and diverse career at PepsiCo began in the India Beverage business 20 years ago. His range of experiences over that time have included important roles in Foods, Beverages and Power of One units, in Franchise and Operating businesses, based in India, Vietnam, Thailand and the USA” Anand adds.
Further, commenting on the change in PepsiCoâ€™s leadership management, Anand says, â€œThese appointments provide important new leadership experiences for two of our most valued senior executives and reflect our strong commitment to developing talent from within PepsiCo. All changes will be effective 1st June 2012. We are announcing them today in order to allow ample time for transition, while ensuring that we remain 100 per cent focused on achieving our 2012 business plans.â€
