Giving an impetus to the growing popularity of online movie viewing in India, Big Flicks, the digital entertainment business of Reliance Group, has tied up with Sony India to provide an integrated application called BIGFLIX Plus, available across Sony BRAVIA Internet TV and Tablets.
Commenting on the partnership, Shreyash Sigtia, Business Head, BigFlicks, says â€œWe are happy to partner with Sony in order to provide a large premium movie catalogue to the movie buffâ€™s in India. This partnership would give our Indian audience a chance to experience a premium MOD (Movie on Demand) service without the hindrance of any ads on their favourite Sony device our partnership with Sony will surely help to strengthen and expand the concept of MOD service in India.â€
Sony on its part wants to extend the association to its other range of network devices. Elaborating on the companyâ€™s plans, Tadato Kimura, General Manager – Marketing, Sony India, adds, â€œSony endeavors to provide the most compelling entertainment content through its network devices, BRAVIA and Tablet and hence, our tie-up with BIGFLIX+ was an apt choice. We even plan to extend our association with BIGFLIX+ for our range of VAIO laptops and Xperia Smartphones in the near future.â€
Through this service, consumers will be able to watch recent releases without any commercial breaks and the new application will allow them to stream and download a catalogue of movies. The deal is light on the consumerâ€™s pocket too, as it comes at a nominal monthly subscription fee of Rs 249 and provides a bouquet of over 600 movies, encompassing diverse genres of Indian cinema and recent blockbusters.
